In Ancient Empires, players guide their tribes from modest beginnings toward the heights of civilization. The game unfolds across a modular circular map divided into regions rich with resources, rivers, plains, and mountains. Each round, players program a sequence of actions for their tribes, then reveal and resolve them in order. Actions include moving your armies, harvesting resources, expanding into new territories, building settlements to secure influence, improving those settlements, researching new technologies, and engaging in battles that push rival tribes back without eliminating them entirely.

As empires grow, players unlock technologies that shape their strategies, construct world wonders, and rise from tribal origins into great civilizations such as Egypt, Babylon, or Greece. Carefully planned action programming and clever combinations allow for surprising turns and dramatic swings in control of the map. The game rewards adaptability: pursuing territory, managing resources, and timing conflicts all lead toward glory. When the final age ends, the civilization with the greatest legacy stands as the true empire of antiquity!
